Planshapes for a 6′ based on Lost Rocket, 6’5 Fishy Thruster, and 6’6 Keel Fish. Two headed to NYC and One to OZ. Shaping starts tomorrow night.
Starting from rough sawn paulownia, this Alaia is ready for some cold winter waves.
This board was ordered from Byron Bay, Australia. I was asked to take a longboarder down to riding a fish. With that in mind, this quad was made. It’s a bit on the longer side at 6’4″ and plenty thick in foil to make an easy transition.
Shaping this is alot like foiling a really big wooden fin. The paulownia wood is surprisingly sand-able and this thing has so much flex to it. Needs a logo and sealant then it’s ready to ride.
The outline is cut and now ready for shaping. It’s looking fun already.
Santa dropped off a jointer last week so I could get this glued up nicely.
The paulownia lumber is in. This wood is such a great mix of strength, minimal weight, and flexibility. It came very rough and needed plenty of work to make proper planks for blanks. The top two photos are rough sawn lumber and last two photos show cut and planed to thickness. Next up is truing up sides and they’ll be ready to glue.
Inspired by the colors of autumn, these board were made with a strong sense of form and function. The modernized keel fish shape features bold color tones and muted True Ames clear fiberglass fins. These boards are made for catching waves in style. They are for sale exclusively at THRYLL.com starting today for one week only !
