Ian’s Replica.

I was asked to replicate Ian’s “Magic Board”. He’s had this board replicated something like 6 times. The most recent clone was by Fletcher Chouinard. I spent a good amount of time taking measurements and studying why this is so magic to him. It has a unique foil to it. The tail thins out alot and very quickly, while the thickest point of the board is somewhere around your wasit to your chest and the nose stays full. From that, I can tell its easy to catch waves and seems really fast with a lot of release in the tail for turns.

“I have been riding your “Ian Model” for the past week in the Katia swell. You did a fine job replicating my magic board. The new one rides just like the old one, but even better! The thinning/lifting in the tail worked out great. The board picks up and catches waves even better because of that. You also kept the “sweet spot” forward I like to use as a front foot speed trimming location. I have also gotten compliments on the board from the owner of a local surf shop (Maritime here in L.B.) and from several of my geriatric know-it-all surfing chums. High praise indeed.
