036_Rider Report
A rider report making all the hard work well worthwhile. Thanks for the review!
Now that I have gotten a few actual rides on it, unlike the drownings yesterday..
6,4 by 20.5 by 2.5 thick EPS foam.
Low Rocker Square tail, thruster.
Minimal Single out to double concave
Rails are full out to the edge, = More hidden float.
When I ordered it I was after a basic thruster, but EPS for extra float. Nothing crazy.
Rick was super specific about getting it right, asking what I wanted and sending exact diagrams and templates back.
27 emails later we had the shape..and that for a basic thruster..Detail detail details..the dude likes details..
Now, if you know me you know I mainly ride Longboards, fish, singlefins or odddballs …SO a basic thruster was something I always thought I should try to learn to surf on. Photo after photo of me always had me burying my back rail on take offs, but not in a good way. I needed to learn how to use my back foot more, and not swing wide on take offs.. Thus a basic thruster.
The board paddles great, I’m 170lbs, add in a winter suit and then go back to the dims..it has a lot of hidden float.
Speed wise it allowed from some real pump action, without bogging of feeling sinky. The flat rocker def helps that.
Im not totally use to a thinner nose, aka I suffer from Fishegg syndrome. But Im sure I can find the sweet spot after a few more sessions.
Overall build is solid, FCS fusin plugs seem much better then older style, and its lightweight but not firewire light. more like a lightweight glassed poly but not as it eps and normal glass.
In short, for a half assed surfer like me to take out a small thruster into waves in a winter suit after not surfing for months..and still get a fair share of waves, even some really good waves with speed..I have to give the board a lot of credit.
PS, there is a thicker version of this same board at lightly salted in NJ, if you are in the 170+ range and want a thruster that will work with a winter suit, in fact feel like your cheating go grab it..its priced low to move.
